Port of Gdansk to initiate IoT pilot scheme
The Port of Gdansk Authority has signed an agreement with the Gdansk University of Technology to implement Internet of Things (IoT) pilot programmes to increase security and efficiency.
The port authority said the planned implementations include “a number” of IoT solutions, and initiatives based on data procession with the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
It will also include the development of “secure and reliable solutions” and work on wireless communications and protection against cyber attacks.
It is the latest initiative to improve Poland’s standing as a maritime nation and technologically safe region to invest and do business.
In November 2019 the country’s internal port community system, Polski Port Community System, which Gdansk runs along with the ports of Gydia and Szczecin-Świnoujście, joined the International Port Community Systems Association (IPCSA).
Furthermore, Gdansk revealed a $3.1 billion expansion plan in November 2019. That came after terminal PSA International bought the Gdansk Deepwater Container Terminal in May 2019.
