MSC service to connect Baltic Sea to the US East Coast

MSC will launch a new service connecting the ScanBaltic to the US East Coast, starting end of March 2022.

The weekly service will present a direct connection to the two regions, reducing transshipment for customers and providing expedited transit times, the shipping line said.

The full port rotation is as follows: Klaipeda (Lithuania) – Gdynia (Poland) – Goteborg (Sweden) – Bremerhaven (Germany) – New York (US) – Philadelphia (US) – Norfolk (US) – Klaipeda

Transit time from Klaipeda to New York will take 15 days and Goteborg to New York will require 11 days, with no transshipment required between load and discharge ports.

Last month, MSC also introduced a new intermodal solution for the Djibouti-Ethiopia corridor, further enhancing its East Africa portfolio.

This also marked the first MSC Intermodal service in Ethiopia.

The option combines road and rail transport to facilitate imports and exports out of the landlocked country.
