Konecranes hands over mobile harbor crane to new customer in Rotterdam

Broekman Logistics has commissioned its first eco-efficient Konecranes Gottwald Model 4 Mobile Harbor Crane.

The order was placed in December 2019 and delivery was completed in mid-February 20201. The crane will be used for operations at the Broekman Logistics multipurpose terminal in the Port of Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Broekman Logistics has extensive freight handling operations at Europe’s largest port, the Port of Rotterdam, including transshipment, storage and distribution. Their Multipurpose Distriport Terminal, situated in the Botlek area, specializes in breakbulk and is also equipped for container handling.

The Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbor crane was selected in order to handle bigger volumes and as part of the Broekman Logistics growth strategy.

“We want our terminal to develop and grow continuously, along with the ambitions of our customers,” said Rob van Dijk, Director of Operations at Broekman Logistics.

“To prepare for the future and build new business, we are willing to invest in projects, expansions and new equipment. We chose Konecranes because we were looking for a high-performance crane that would allow us to handle bigger volumes.”

Their first Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbor Crane is a Model 4 in the G HMK 4406 variant.

It is a compact, electrically driven universal crane that can handle a maximum load of 100 tons and has a working radius up to 46 meters. It can be used on ships up to Panamax class. LED lights provide strong illumination of the crane’s working area.

Smart crane features, including a hoisting height assistant and a landside lowering function, make the job of the operator easier and safer. Web reporting provides relevant crane data to increase both performance and serviceability.

“It is a pleasure and honor that Broekman Logistics has chosen our equipment to increase their cargo handling performance with high flexibility and reliability, and build their future success with Konecranes,” says Alexandros Stogianidis, Benelux Director Sales for Konecranes Port Solutions.
