COSCO launches cross-border freight trains
COSCO Shipping Logistics (COSCO) has launched two international freight train services, connecting China to Laos and Germany.
On 22 February 2022, the company’s Jiangsu – COFCO train departed from the Yaohuamen Railway Station carrying 70 standard containers. It has since arrived in Vientiane, the capital of Laos.
The logistics provider launched the train alongside COFCO and the Jiangsu Liner Supply Chain.
Additionally, on 18 February, the first two-way China Railway Express Train running between Qingdao and Mannheim, Germany was also launched.
This marked the official start of the new service provided by China Railway Express (Qilu) under the joint effort of COSCO Shipping Logistics and the Shangdong Hi-Speed Group and further opens up the international logistics channel for westward transportation between Qingdao and Europe.

Since the inauguration of the China-Laos freight train on 8 December 2021, COSCO Shipping Logistics has successfully operated six trains.
The company’s Linyi-Huangdao sea-rail intermodal transport dedicated train was also officially launched in December 2021.
On 1 December the container train loaded with high-quality plates departed from Linyi Zhubao Railway Logistics Park.
The plates from Linyi will be transshipped to other parts of the world by COSCO Shipping’s foreign trade containership at Qingdao Port.
