China-ROK shipping route announced
A new shipping route has opened between the Yangluo Port, located in Wuhan, Central China, and Busan Port in the Republic of Korea (ROK) and opened on 27 October 2021.
The new route is the first direct regular shipping route between Central China and the ROK and will act as an extension of an existing route linking Wuhan with Japanese ports.
The launch of this new shipping route is expected to help promote trade between China and the ROK, while also further cementing Wuhan’s role as a shipping hub in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.
Zhang Lin, Director of the Wuhan New Port Manager Committee, revealed that a return trip on the route will be more than three days shorter than the previous route via Shanghai.
Previously, the Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced it will assist companies to obtain Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certificates as part of efforts to strengthen the global competitiveness of nearby small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Announced in August 2021, the BPA explained it had been conducting this program since the second half of 2019 by “systematically consulting” throughout the process from preparation to delivery.
