Kalmar to deliver 15 electric forklifts to SEAC

Concrete product supplier SEAC has ordered 15 medium electric forklifts from cargo handling experts Kalmar, to be deployed across their 11 manufacturing facilities throughout France.

The new forklifts offer the same performance and power of a diesel truck, however, have none of the emissions, noise or vibration and also featuring Kalmar’s ergonomically designed EGO cabin which aims to provide a superior driving experience, according to a statement from Kalmar.

SEAC intend to use the machines for the handling of it’s concrete products such as slabs and beams and transporting through the production line to storage and finally onto trucks to await delivery to customers.

The order is scheduled to be delivered in Q1 of 2022, after the order was made in Q3 of 2021.

“This investment in electrically powered forklifts to replace diesel machines is an important step towards reducing the carbon footprint of our operations,” commented SEAC’s Director of Factories, Jean Marc Elain.

“After testing a single unit from Kalmar, we were confident that their solution could provide the level of battery autonomy that our factory operations demand.”

Kalmar France Service Operations Manager, Hervé Helluin, added “We have been working with SEAC for several years and are delighted that they have selected our powerful, eco-efficient electric forklift solution to support their operations.

“Going forward, once the new machines are in place, we will provide SEAC with world-class preventive maintenance support through our vast service network, which covers all of their locations across France.”

In August 2021 it was also reported that Kalmar had received an order for 81 Ottawa T2 terminal tractors to be delivered to the DP World South Container Terminal (SCT) at Jeddah Port. These are set to be delivered in Q2 of 2022, adding to SCT’s current fleet that includes Kalmar reachstackers and empty container handlers.
