TradeLens integrates with Portic Barcelona to improve visibility
Portic Barcelona, the port community system of the Barcelona Port Community, has integrated its data into TradeLens, the blockchain-enabled digital logistics platform jointly developed by A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) and IBM.
In a statement, TradeLens said the integration means it will be possible to exchange information in real time and improve transparency on the global logistics chain.
In 2020, nearly 3 million containers were moved in the Port of Barcelona. Many of the 500 companies that are part of the Port Community of Barcelona work with the Portic system, which telematically manages more than 31 million document exchanges per year.
Portic and TradeLens will offer a better quality of information in real time, with data such as the actual departure or arrival of the ship at the port of origin or destination, among others.
This exchange of information means greater digitalization, transparency and security in operations, making it possible to make more accurate forecasts and thus offer a better service to customers.
Javier Gallardo, director of Portic, said, “With this alliance, both companies complement each other’s services, providing them with more information and incorporating new filters on the information that result in the quality of the data.
“The technological model used allows immediate communication of events and occurrences in the transport chain, which is a differential aspect with other integration models already existing in the PCS of the Port Community of Barcelona.”
