Rosmorport launches e-navigation software pilot

Russian state-owned maritime infrastructure company Rosmorport has launched a pilot of its e-navigation software and hardware complex at the Port of Sabetta.

In a statement, the company said the pilot will be a platform for “extended data exchange” with vessels integrated in the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS), which includes technical tools and software.

Additionally, it said e-navigation technologies will facilitate the decision-making process of VTS navigators and operators, improve the quality of port services and the fleet, as well as prevent human error.

The pilot will test the capabilities of the e-navigation system’s ability to plan an individual route for ships, receive route and timetable data and exchange text messages.

The system will also aim to publish navigation message with automatic messages, in particular the monitoring of objects in a vessel’s route.

It is the latest technological innovation to be hosted by a Russian seaport or supply chain hub. Speaking exclusively to PTI earlier in 2021, Russia-based Global Ports said the deployment of an electronic Bill of Lading (e-B/L) was the best way the country could do for its supply chain.06
