Singapore and Malaysia coordinate coronavirus fightback

The governments of Singapore and Malaysia have agreed to expand and enhance their cooperation in their efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus by forming the Singapore-Malaysia Joint Working Group (JWG).

In a statement, Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MoH) said both countries had updated each on their respective measures to contain the virus at the JWG’s first meeting on 25 February 2020 in Johor Bahru.

Both governments agreed to align health screening protocols at land borders and exchange information on clinical management of patients between technical experts.

In addition, they also launched a bilateral Field Epidemiology Training Network to share surveillance data and share information such as national advisories and public messaging on coronavirus.

The second JWG meeting will be held in March 2020.
