ZPMC enters Cambodian market with reach stacker delivery

Chinese-state owned port equipment manufacturer ZPMC has announced it successfully delivered four empty container reach stackers to the Port of Sihanoukville, Cambodia, the first time it has entered that market.

In a statement, ZPMC said it developed the machines with built-in “high operation efficiency, safety, reliability and mobility”.

Sihanoukville is one of three major ports in Cambodia, along with Phnom Penh and Koh Kong, and is the only country’s only deep-water gateway. Its traffic is approximately 537,000 TEU as of 2018, having increased by 17% year-on-year (YoY).

Situated on the Gulf of Thailand on Cambodia’s southwest coastline, it provides transshipment access to the wider southeast Asia region for many exporters from China, Japan, South Korea and others, particularly with its freezone.

ZPMC has sold out nearly 200 reach stackers to Singapore, Cambodia and other countries since manufacturing the first one in August, 2017.

This particular announcement marked ZPMC’s latest service achievement depsite the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier in 2020 it successfully delivered six automated rubber mounted gantry cranes to the Tuas mega-port in Singapore and several other machines to ports in Europe and beyond.
