PEMA publishes key brownfield insights
The Port Equipment Manufacturers Association (PEMA) has published key insights into automating container cranes at brownfield sites in its latest information paper which is designed to help port operators improve safety, efficiency and sustainability.
According to a statement, PEMA said the paper Automating Yard Operation in Brownfield Container Terminals: Infrastructure drew on the expertise of many of its members.
In doing so it sought to explore the benefits and challenges of automating equipment at brownfield sites, currently available IT solutions, infrastructure, and yard layout.
“PEMA works actively to promote safety, efficiency and sustainability at ports and terminals worldwide,” said PEMA President and Chairman of the Board Ottonel Poesco.
“We hope that this information paper will serve as an effective tool for operators to accelerate improvements in safety, operational efficiency, and environmental impact.”
Automating Yard Operation in Brownfield Container Terminals: Infrastructure is the first of a two-part information paper. The second part – Automating Yard Operation in Brownfield Container Terminals: Crane Modification – will be published later this year.
