APMT Pipavav breaks productivity records
APM Terminals (APMT) Pipavav has broken its own berth productivity record after successfully handling the Maersk Sentosa.
The terminal achieved a personal best of 143.26 moves per hour after the vessel docked at its facilities as part of Maersk’s MECL service.
Its previous record was 140 moves per hour on the same service in 2021.
The MECL service connects India to ports along the US East Coast including Savannah, Norfolk, Newark, Algeciras, as well as Middle Eastern ports such as Djibouti, Salalah, and Jebel Ali.
“We are delighted to create the new berth productivity milestone at our port. Achieving these milestones is a testimony of our customer-centricity, seamless coordination to manage transit-sensitive cargoes, skilled staff, and infrastructure competencies,” said Jakob Friis Sørensen, Managing Director of APMT Pipavav.
“We are grateful to our customers, their representatives, USEC trade stakeholders and shipping lines for their abundant trust in our capabilities. We strive to provide the highest efficiency at the berth, at the yard and at the gate to our customers.”
The terminal, located in Port Pipavav along the West Coast of India, has a current capacity of 1.35 million TEU.
In January 2022, APMT Pipavav secured a new weekly vessel service.
The TSS SHAMS has docked at the facility every Thursday since the start of the year and closely links India to markets in the Gulf region.
This provides the terminal with notable benefits such as increased connectivity and an elevated supply chain network to importers’ and exporters’ operations in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, and Delhi.
