ONE recruits WAVE BL to enhance eBL offerings

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced it is working alongside technology provider WAVE BL to expand its electronic Bill of Lading (eBL) offerings, aiming to accelerate digital trade adoption across the supply chain.

Both parties have worked closely on the successful completion of the initial pilot rollout and ONE will now extend the offering to more of its customers and business partners.

Revealed in a statement from WAVE BL, the blockchain-backed digital shipping platform ensures the highest legal, security and privacy standards in the maritime industry, providing an electronic alternative to traditional print documents.

“As part of our digitisation journey, we have been focusing on our integration capability to strive for new digital offerings to our customers and partners,” said Sundeep Sibal, Head of Commercial and Service Management at ONE.

“We started to offer the eBL services via WAVE BL as a strategic partner to expedite core steps of the supply chain and save time and cost for our customers. With a robust solution and an increasing network, we aim to enhance our customer experience through rapid and paperless transfer.”

As part of the collaboration, WAVE BL will provide an end-to-end cryptographic endorsement and surrender system for issuing eBLs in real-time and offering support for ONE’s customers and business partners using the platform.

WAVE BL has previously worked alongside MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company to help it launch its eBL, following a successful pilot phase. Announced in April 2021, the platform will enable shippers and other key supply chain stakeholders to receive and transmit the Bill of Lading document electronically without change or disruption.
