Imam Khomeini Port sees 12% growth in container operations

The Imam Khomeini Port, located in Iran, has experienced an increase of unloading and loading operations of 12% for the second year in a row.

According to a statement from the Ports & Maritime Organisation, the increase stemmed from proper cooperation and coordination between the port container terminal and the owners of goods and shipping lines, taking the port in the first five months of the year (Iranian calendar) to a total of 62,690 TEU.

With growing market demand and a memorandum of cooperation between the General Administration of Ports and Maritime of Khuzestan, the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organisation, and the Customs and Southern Railway, container trade at the port is expected to continue to increase through the near future.

This follows on from the news that both ports in Mobile and Abu Dhabi have seen container growth as well.
