ICTSI Pakistan reaches 10 million TEU milestone

Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT), a subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services, Inc’s (ICTSI), has reached a milestone with the handling of its 10-millionth TEU.

A ceremony to celebrate the achievement was held with ICTSI Regional Head, Hans-Ole Madsen (Europe, Middle East and Africa), PICT’s Independent Director, Rune Rasmussen and the PICT senior management team all in attendance.

“This hallmark achievement is a result of synchronised efforts and dedication of our entire team, along with the fortifying partnership and cohesion we enjoy with our esteemed customers, who are among the key elements of our successful operations,” said PICT CEO, Khurram Aziz Khan.

“We thank our employees for their dedication, our customers for their patronage, and stakeholders for helping us reach this milestone.”

“The 10 million TEU milestone is PICT’s expression of commitment to supporting the economic resilience of the country,” continued Khan. “As we continue to build our legacy, our vision to become the container choice of Pakistan’s busiest port city resonates with our conscious efforts and focused actions towards improving the ease of doing business, promoting digitalisation, and provision of efficient customer services to our clientele.”

The terminal located at the Port of Karachi first started commencing operations in 2002 and has offered connections to Central Asia, Afghanistan, and the Western China hinterlands.

This follows on from the news in August 2021 that Basra Gateway Terminal (ICTSI Iraq), operating at the Port of Umm Qasr hit a three-million TEU milestone. This coincided with their seventh year of operations after commencing in 2014.
