Port of Vladivostok to host smart technology pilot
Fesco Transportation Group and NtechLab have agreed to use computer vision analytics and will launch a pilot project at the Commercial Port of Vladivostok (CPV).
In a statement, Fesco said the pilot will explore the viability of license plate identification, control of ship calls and counting of containers among much else.
Andrey Severilov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fesco, described the development of digital services and data systems as a “key element” for the improvement of business processes.
“We believe that NtechLab will help us improve it. A pilot project will be launched at CPV and we are looking forward to implementing the technologies in other companies of the Group.”
Andrey Telenkov, General Director, NtechLab, said the pilot will explore the potential of ‘computer vision’ in a logistics sphere.
“Neural networks enable us to monitor compliance with the safety measures and consistency of technical processes.
“The technologies can simplify and speed up the monitoring processes in Fesco’s companies and contribute to improving the work environment making it more comfortable.”
Russian ports are quickly becoming hubs of digital innovation and testing, and the country is looking to smart technologies to make trade more efficient.
Terminal operator Global Ports launched a new digital planning system for berths at the First Container Terminal (FCT) at the Port of St Petersburg, based on the Portchain online platform.
Speaking to PTI in February, Global Ports said the biggest challenge to the Russian supply chain was the movement of goods inland and called upon stakeholders to launch a blockchain-based, paperless documentation platform.
