ZPMC unveils new super reach stacker amid flurry of equipment deliveries
Chinese state-owned port equipment manufacturer ZPMC has unveiled a new range of super reach stackers that it said will inject new force into the mobile machinery market.
The company said the new reach stacker can meet the high-efficiency transfer requirements of various terminals and yards. Weighing eight tonnes less than standard models, ZPMC said the new super reach stacker can greatly reduce fuel consumption and wheel pressure on the ground.
This over time will extend the lifecycle and service life of the product. It will also have, ZPMC said, the industry’s first automatic wheelbase change design, which will enable the maximum variable wheelbase to reach 2.5m. This means it can undertake operations under a variety of different working conditions.
ZPMC went on to say that future super reach stackers will be built with an internet of things (IoT) cloud platform, which will be able to perform remote vehicle condition monitoring, energy efficiency analysis and after-sales maintenance.
Additionally, the company delivered numerous port equipment and made advances in automating container handling processes, at the start of 2021 and end of 2020.
In a series of online updates, the company detailed its most recent deliveries. These include sending the final five of 22 automatic rail-mounted gantry cranes to the SIPG Haifa Terminal, Israel, on the 8 January 2021.
The terminal is the first overseas investment made by Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) and the project marks the first moment ZPMC has entered the Israeli market – it had had previously delivered eight quay cranes.
Furthermore, on 1 January 2021 it sent the last six sets of equipment of the tyre cranes project to South Carolina Ports (SC Ports). This meant a total of 25 sets of equipment have been sent to South Carolina as part of SC Ports wider expansion projects.
That followed a delivery on 21 December 2020, when ZPMC sent a quay crane and two infield tyre cranes for the Port of Sihnoukville, Cambodia. The company said the equipment was delivered and installed despite numerous challenges, including restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, heavy rainfall and high temperatures.
