Malta Freeport Terminals joins TradeLens

Malta Freeport Terminals has joined TradeLens, the blockchain-based supply chain platform developed by A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) and IBM.

In an online update, the company said the announcement heralded a new digital era for its operations. Additionally, it will enable the company to securely integrate data with partners including carriers, ports, terminals, operators and other stakeholders.

This will also boost its capability to deliver a state-of-the-art service, reducing the cost of connecting partners, and optimising vessel and truck service times.

Carriers CMA CGM and MSC have also recently completed TradeLens integration and together with Maersk, will act as platform foundation carriers with a role in expanding the ecosystem and platform operations.

Other recently joined members of TradeLens include major rail operator Canadian Pacific, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Copenhagen Malmo Port and PortBase.

Launched in August 2018, TradeLens is an open platform bringing together all parties in the supply chain and providing seamless, secure sharing of real-time, actionable information and collaboration.
