CTAC 2021: What to expect from this year’s event
The Container Terminal Automation Conference (CTAC) will enter its 7th year in 2021 and the May event will be the second fully virtual iteration.
Helping guide the industry’s continued journey towards automation, the CTAC 2021 event will take place from 18 to 21 May.
CTAC 2021 follows the success of the 2020 virtual event, which saw 450 attendees which included over 200 terminal operators.
Over 60 speakers will present and discuss across the four days of CTAC 2021 which will feature C-level representatives from Container Terminals from DP World Limassol, all the way to Hutchison South East Asia and many in between, all sharing their own insights and case studies.

“This year’s edition will include a focus on future technologies such as AI, Digital Twin and IoT, and the real value they can provide in the container terminals, while also staying true to the core subject of automation, for which the conference is known,” said Ben Heather, Conference Producer, Port Technology International.
“I’m also pleased to introduce brand new sessions for this year’s event on terminal investment and sustainability, these are two key topics which are becoming increasingly important for terminal operators and the technology providers who are disrupting the industry,” he said.
Other sessions include: retrofitting automation in brownfield terminals; the future of standardisation and data sharing; and achieving automation in small terminals.
All sessions will contain live discussions and live Q&A sections which provides attendees with the opportunity to engage in real-time with the speakers to have their questions answered.
The official AI sponsor for the event, Inform, will also provide a keynote session in which Dr.-Ing. Eva Savelsberg, SVP Logistics Division, Board Member, Inform, will present.
Other sponsors include Navis, Accenture, AIDrivers, Effenco, ProDevelop, ABB, IGO-Avlino, MFA, Tata Consultancy Services, Kuenz, Tmeic and ICT Netherlands.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with sponsors and other delegates via the virtual swapcard platform. In addition, there is a virtual exhibition space for attendees to visit during the networking breaks.
“Our exciting virtual event platform enables people to connect and meet with others across the industry from all corners of the globe. They will be able to continue their discussions just as in a live event,” Heather said.
“The virtual booth enables people looking for solutions to not only engage with the company but to learn more on their own time through videos, technical papers and additional information on products and services.”
